The Devil Made Me Do It
Some of you will recall the brilliant African-American comedian Flip Wilson. He made famous the phrase, “The Devil made me do it!” And, he wasn’t referencing the New Jersey Devils. LOL!
The truth is what Flip Wilson made famous wasn’t original, it was coined 6,000 years before Mr. Wilson was born in the most beautiful garden ever to grace planet earth. In essence, Eve said, “Satan made me do it.” Adam said, “Eve made me do it!” And Satan said, “God made me do it!” Well, not really. Just keeping you on your toes. Smile!
I’m starting a new sermon series, “The WOW! Collection,” delving into the question: “What is the origin of sin?” Most would answer, “The Devil” or “Satan.” If that’s true who made Satan sin? And what about the animals—they didn’t eat of The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (Gen 2:17). So WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF SIN? The answer to that question is this week’s “Wow!” moment.
