Why a Golden Calf?

Spring greetings!  Yes, although there were warmer days in February, “spring” is in the air.  The sun is shining, shoots are breaking through the soil; the hint of flowers and the summer sun is all around us.

As to this week’s sermon: Why a Golden Calf?  Think about this: Why would anyone choose a golden calf for a god?  Seriously—a vulnerable calf?  Would you not pick a symbol of strength, intelligence, speed, fertility, power—anything but a calf?  So, why did the Israelites make a god out of a calf?  That’s this week’s WOW! moment.  

What does it have to do with you and me?  Without giving away the sermon, let’s just say we all make Golden Calves just like the Israelites.  The question is “why?”  The answer could change your way of thinking and your life FOREVER.
